Two and a half years after Leonardo DRS went public on the Nasdaq, the company returned to the market floor at Times Square in New York City to ring the closing bell again. But this visit was to celebrate a different honor.
Company CEO, Bill Lynn, used the opportunity to kick off the company’s recognition of National Military Appreciation Month. Each May, American’s honor the service and sacrifice of those who serve, and have served, in the U.S. military.
“As a defense company, Leonardo DRS was created to support the men and women of our armed forces to ensure they successfully complete their missions,” Lynn said. “But the company also understands that military service does not stop when the mission is complete. Military members, veterans and their families face unique challenges throughout their time in uniform, and often after they have finished serving.”
Leonardo DRS has long been deeply committed to enhancing the lives of this special community that chose a path to defend our nation. Through partnerships with Military Support Organizations (MSOs), the company is able to help extend the vital resources and services they provide to military communities across the country.
On April 29th DRS invited representatives from three of the MSOs it partners with to join Lynn in ringing the Nasdaq closing bell. Before the ceremony he recognized the organizations; Blue Star Families is the nation’s largest military and veteran family support organization, building strong communities through research-driven, human-centered solutions. Homes For Our Troops is a nonprofit dedicated to building and donating specially adapted homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, helping them rebuild their lives. And Move United, the national leader in community adaptive sports, empowers individuals with disabilities — including through their Warfighters program, which has supported over 21,000 wounded warriors and their families. We’re grateful for all that you do to serve those who have served us.
Just before the group rang the closing bell, Lynn had a final announcement, “In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, we all want to extend a sincere thank you to all of the men and women in our armed services, their families, and our veterans for your service and sacrifice.”
For National Military Appreciation Month, watch for additional announcements from Leonardo DRS through May that highlight the great work our employees and our partner MSO’s are doing to help the military communities across the country.
