Krista CampbellRecently, one of the company’s engineers in Canada was recognized for her exemplary work in her field by the Women in Defence and Security (WiDS) organization based in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Women in Defence and Security’s goal is to promote and support the advancement of women in careers related to Canadian defence and security. An important part of that goal is to recognize women who are outstanding in their field with the WiDS “Emerging Leader” award.

According to the organization, an “Emerging Leader” is someone – in any stage of their career – who is doing great things; someone who is inspiring change; someone who is blazing a trail and setting an example for other young women to follow.

Krista Campbell is formally trained as an Industrial Engineer and is Senior Manager of Manufacturing Programs at DRS TCL in Canada.  She was nominated and selected for this award because she is a, “competent and capable leader at DRS who has quickly taken increasing responsibilities over all the manufacturing program managers and has shown excellent leadership qualities with complex programs, difficult customers, and challenging technical constraints.”  Additionally, Krista was chosen as an emerging leader because, “she has learned her job responsibilities quickly, with energy, bringing a fresh perspective, with thoughtful recommendations, and at the same time pulling her dynamic team together to execute the business objectives.”

“We are proud of what Krista has achieved in her career so far,” said Martin Munro, vice president and general manager of the DRS Technologies Canada, Ltd. facility. “She has exceeded our expectations and exemplifies what we are looking for in our future leaders, we could not be happier that she was selected for this recognition.  Her future is very bright,” Munro said.

WiDS is a significant organization in the defense industry in Canada, developing a community that works together to transform culture, providing a network that empowers women to come together to connect, to reflect, and to celebrate in creating a diverse and inclusive defence and security community.
