ARLINGTON, VA, June 18, 2021 — Leonardo DRS, Inc. announced today the grand opening of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for its Naval Power business in Menomonee Falls, WI.  The new facility will modernize business operations to meet the current and future needs of the U.S. Navy.

Federal, state, local and company leaders attended the ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday to tour the engineering development and light manufacturing and test facility that will accommodate the company’s growing line of business.

In attendance, were representatives from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, and U.S. Representative Scott L. Fitzgerald; Leonardo DRS leaders including John Baylouny, Chief Operating Officer; Mike Dippold, Chief Financial Officer; and Jon Miller, Senior Vice President and General Manger, Leonardo DRS Naval Power business, among others.

Leonardo DRS invested in the new, best-in-class engineering, research and development and laboratory space to serve as the focal point for the majority of the business unit’s advanced manufacturing, and engineering and logistics support activities.  The business houses the design, test, and manufacturing facilities for naval and marine power distribution, power conversion, motor controls, drives, and automation / control equipment. Leonardo DRS products from this facility have been deployed on every U.S. Navy combatant delivered since 1945, including of the U.S. Navy’s newest ship designs.

U.S. members of Congress from Wisconsin provided messages delivered by staff members at the ceremony.

“It is good news when employers expand in Wisconsin. Not only does it mean more opportunity and prosperity for people now working for Leonardo DRS, it also is testimony to other employers that our state is a great place to find people with the skills and dedication to make what America and the world need, now and in years to come,” said U.S. Senator Ron Johnson. “On behalf of the men and women of our armed forces who are helped in their missions by the equipment you make, and on behalf of the country they defend and the citizens who owe them a debt of gratitude, thank you for what you do to make their missions successful.”

“I am excited to see Leonardo DRS kick off their operations here in Wisconsin’s Fifth District. Not only will this new facility support U.S. defense capabilities and help the U.S. secure a strategic advantage over our adversaries, this new facility will employ 650 Wisconsinites, enriching Menomonee Falls and our surrounding communities,” said U.S. Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (WI).  “Let’s do what Wisconsin does best and get to work!”

“I appreciate Leonardo DRS keeping and growing jobs in Wisconsin. The fact that they decided to stay when they could have gone to other states, is a testament our workers. I strongly believe that when taxpayer dollars are spent by our government for national defense, we should be investing those dollars in Wisconsin made products and that is why I will continue to push for Buy American policies that support our businesses and workers. Thanks to Leonardo DRS for providing our service members with high quality equipment and for their hard work moving our Made in Wisconsin economy forward,” said U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin

“This new facility is opening at the right time to service the U.S. Navy as their requirements grow,” said John Baylouny, Leonardo DRS chief operating officer.  “As our business grows, we continue to focus on continuous improvements to ensure customer satisfaction by providing the right facilities and equipment to meet our customer’s needs now and in the future.  This facility is a prime example of our initiatives we are focusing on to support the vital growing customer needs,” he said.

“Our company and the Naval Power business has been growing, and together with the expanding mission-critical needs of our customers, this new facility will modernize our business to ensure our customer is given the best support for years to come,” said Jon Miller, senior vice president and general manager of the Leonardo DRS Naval Power business. “This region has been our long-time home, and we are proud to be a part of the Menomonee Falls community. This new state-of-the-art facility represents an investment in, and our commitment to our employees, this community, and our customers,” Miller said.

In addition to its manufacturing work, the Naval Power business will use the new facility to house offices for its advanced engineering support and supply management/logistics support functions.
