Creative in Globalization, Commercialization and Innovation
ARLINGTON, VA, October 14, 2010 -- Basing his propositions on years of experience in both the federal government and commercial sector, as well as his participation in a recent Center for New American Security (CNAS) report, Lynn proposes three solutions to a changing defense industry.
- Globalization. In order to maintain possession of the most effective technology on the market, the United States must import the latest technology from leading thinkers abroad. This not only means importing foreign technology, but exporting our own, in order to maintain healthy global relationships.
- Commercialization. In the past, the government has been a major exporter of innovative technology, including GPS and the Internet. In recent years, however, non-defense technology companies have made major contributions to the space. These technologies must be embraced on a more consistent basis.
- Innovation. Not only must Research and Development be made a larger priority, but innovation must be used to break down barriers and develop new processes for technology import.
