Children of Fallen Patriots Scholars

Children of Fallen Patriots scholarships and financial assistance have assisted over 3,800 bright and motivated students throughout their undergraduate studies. Their story, and how they came to work with Children of Fallen Patriots, may begin with tragedy, but each one of their scholars is a shining example of how honoring legacy results in inspiring success.

Student Spotlight: Abbie W.

Abbie is the daughter of U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Frank W., who passed away in 2006. When asked how friends and family would describe her father, Abbie says, “My dad was everything a kid wanted their dad to be. He was fun, kind, smart, strong, and loving. My dad loved being a pilot and serving his country, but he also loved being a dad, and he was great at both.”

With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Abbie graduated from the University of North Georgia with a degree in Accounting in 2022. While in college, Abbie was extremely involved in extracurricular activities at her university. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, where she served as their Vice President of Finance. She served as the Vice President of Activities for Beta Alpha Psi, and also mentored at Knights of Heroes in her free time. In 2022, Abbie joined the Children of Fallen Patriots team as a Staff Accountant.

Student Spotlight: Brandon W.

Children of Fallen Patriots scholar Brandon W. is the son of U.S. Army Private First Class Lori P., who was killed in action in 2003. Brandon’s mother was the first indigenous woman to die in combat while serving in the U.S. military and the first woman in the U.S. military killed in the Iraq War. When asked how others would describe his mother, Brandon says, “I’ve been told that my mother was a caring person who always helped out in anyway she could. She also was very athletic, competitive, and always stood up for others.”

With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Brandon graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Brandon plans on furthering his education by attending graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist.
