Leonardo DRS Introduces Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher for Combat Platforms

The field-reconfigurable MPML helps customers expand missile options on TOW-equipped platforms without significant changes to the launcher configuration.

Leonardo DRS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DRS) today introduced its Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher, or MPML, a field-reconfigurable launcher designed to expand anti-armor missile capability on enduring and future combat platforms.

The MPML is designed to enable platforms using existing Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missile launch systems to employ Spike LR2 missiles while retaining TOW compatibility. The system includes a new lightweight TOW-based launcher, adapters for the Spike LR2 missile, and a Common Missile Control Unit.

Built as a drop-in upgrade to platforms currently equipped with TOW launch systems, the MPML is designed to help operators transition between compatible missile types more quickly without changing the launcher configuration. Its open-systems architecture also supports future integration of compatible loitering munitions.
