Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher (MPML)

Future Lethality in a Proven Launch System

MPML upgrades vehicle-mounted TOW launchers to fire Spike LR2 anti-armor missiles while maintaining full TOW compatibility.

MPML Overview

The Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher (MPML) upgrades existing ground combat vehicle-mounted Tube-launched, Optically Tracked, Wireless-guided (TOW) missile launch systems to fire the next generation Spike LR2 anti-armor missile system while retaining full TOW compatibility. The patent pending MPML significantly increases the lethality and survivability of existing TOW equipped combat platforms, while delivering next generation anti-armor missile lethality requirements on future platforms. A true “drop-in” upgrade, MPML’s design is fully field-reconfigurable between missile types and results in zero net impact to SWAP and stowage on the platform. The open systems approach also enables growth to accommodate the rapidly evolving family of compatible loitering munitions.

MPML Capability Highlights

  • Upgrades existing fielded upgraded TOW Missile Launcher (UTML) to launch 5th generation Spike LR2 anti-armor missile system
  • Enables next generation Close Combat Missile System-Heavy (CCMS-H) capability via backward-compatible launch system
  • Enables employment of extended range missiles to fully leverage newer sensor D/R/I ranges
  • Compatible with new Common Missile Control Unit (CMCU) that utilizes new TOW and Spike electronics and software that enable proper missile selection, firing and guidance in a GCIA-complaint, MOSA-aligned package
  • No system SWAP-C or onboard stowage impact compared to legacy TOW-only system
  • Field reconfigurable between TOW and Spike LR2 missiles without special tools
  • Leverages existing UTML design and supply chain
  • Growth path to compatible Loitering Anti-Armor Munitions and other missile systems
