Leonardo DRS Awarded Contracts to Refresh Nuclear Plant Safety System Components for Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power

ARLINGTON, Va. — Leonardo DRS, Inc. announced today it has received two contract awards from Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) totalling $36 million to supply spare and refreshed Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) that support critical nuclear plant safety systems at the Kori Nuclear Power Plant in Busan and the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant in Jeollanam-do, South Korea.

Under these awards, Leonardo DRS will refresh and deliver CCAs used within the company’s Solid State Interposing Logic System (SSILS)—modules that have supported safe plant operation since the early 1980s. The refreshed CCAs will help KHNP sustain ongoing operations and enable plant life extension activities by ensuring key safety system electronics remain supportable and reliable for the long term.

Circuit Card Assemblies are the electronic modules that perform logic, signal conditioning, and control functions inside plant instrumentation and control systems. Within SSILS, these CCAs help ensure safety-related signals are processed accurately and consistently so the safety system can execute its required functions.

As part of the refresh, Leonardo DRS will:

• Address electronics obsolescence issues
• Provide form, fit, and function replacement components
• Deliver updated design, documentation, and internal dedication services to ensure the modules meet or exceed the original performance requirements
