Leonard DRS’ family of uncooled thermal camera cores is based on a 10 µm pixel pitch with formats supporting 640×480, 1280×1024, and even 2k×2k resolution.
Depending on the application, Leonardo DRS can optimize Thermal Time Constant (TTC) and Noise-Equivalent Temperature Differential (NETD) to support specific missions. Applications include Weapon sights, goggles, target acquisition, combat vehicles, missile seekers, space-based sensors, and commercial OEM FPAs, cores, and cameras.
Leonardo DRS performs both Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) and Wafer-Level Vacuum Packaging (WLVP) in its Dallas, Texas facility.
We also offer a line of thermal imaging detectors that deliver superior image quality with frame rates up to 60 FPS.

UC300 2K x 2K Focal Plane Array Capabilities
The UC300 is a large format, uncooled 2100×2048 (2K x 2K) Focal Plane Array (FPA) developed for NASA’s Sustainable Land Imaging Technology Sensor Program, offering near-simultaneous imaging in six spectral bands. It features a unique butcher-block spectral filter assembly, enabling five bands in the Long-wave Infrared (LWIR, 8-12µm) range and an additional band in the Mid-wave Infrared (MWIR, 3-5µm) range specifically for fire detection. This advanced sensor operates at a 30Hz framerate across a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, using a pulsed-bias bridge architecture for efficient signal integration. The UC300 represents Leonardo DRS’ largest format in the 10µm pixel uncooled FPA product line, vacuum packaged in a Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) with a broadband (MWIR + LWIR) infrared window.
