Leonardo DRS provides thermal imaging technologies that Warfighters can weapon-mount or carry, allowing a clear view of the battlefield in complex tactical environments. This helps the maneuver commander to retain efficient decision-making – saving lives, cost, and time. With decades of infrared technology development and providing battle-proven reliable Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) sensors to the U.S and allied military forces, Leonardo DRS is primed to continue delivering a new generation of intelligently-crafted thermal systems, giving the Warfighter every advantage.
Situational awareness has been the backbone for militaries throughout history. And with the advanced threats of today, it has become more crucial than ever to Warfighter security and success. Electro-Optical and Infrared sensors now serve as the eyes of military forces, day and night, through all types of environmental conditions. Ensuring these warfighters have the technology for today’s threats, and the threats of tomorrow, is essential.
The New Face of Dismounted Thermal Solutions
The next generation of EO/IR sensors, targeting systems, and optics must improve infantry combat effectiveness while reducing carry loads and improving SWaP. By taking a systems approach— with the warfighter as an integrated combat platform —these advances in situational awareness and lethality will allow our Warfighters to maintain overmatch and stay ahead of the enemy.
For example, the Joint Effects Targeting System is the first handheld device to use north-finding technology to provide forward observers with more accuracy for precision munitions in all conditions like pitch-dark, fog, dust, smoke, and adverse weather conditions.
And the Family of Weapon Sights-Individual wirelessly transmits the weapons crosshair and thermal image to the user’s goggles, enabling them to detect, recognize, and engage targets accurately without having to put an eye on their scope.
