EMSS Overview
The DRS Extended Mast Surveillance System utilizes the capabilities of the exMHR radar system on a self-contained trailer platform, incorporating an extendable mast to establish a higher vantage point and extend the radar detection range. The exMHR is an S-Band, Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar providing the performance, accuracy, and target sample rate required for Cruise Missile Detection and long-range Counter Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (CRAM) missions. This performance can also be applied in Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) by utilizing optimized software-defined configurations.
The extendable mast provides the radar a higher vantage point relative to the horizon to fully utilize the exMHR detection range and maximize performance. This is critical for all Cruise Missile Detection, CRAM, and C-UAS missions. The trailer-based system contains all necessary data and power systems to support radar operation and allow for rapid deployment with minimal personnel and resource workload. Additional features that can be incorporated with this system include AI-based track processing and wireless radio communication to allow for long distance data transmission. All features of the Extended Mast Surveillance System are designed to maximize the utilization of the exMHR radar in a compact, self-contained mobile platform.
