Ship Network Computing & Communications

Naval C2 video

Helping warfighters own the command and control on the high seas is paramount to preserving our freedom.

That’s why a ship’s network and communications systems must allow data sharing more securely, quickly, and reliably to military forces. With a cost-effective, common computing infrastructure, naval fleets can improve situational awareness and battlefield decision-making today and refresh hardware to update computing infrastructures more easily in the future.

With the Leonardo DRS line of network computing products, sub-systems, infrastructure, network and data distribution, radar and rugged naval control systems, we help warfighters maintain voice and data communications needed to manage tactical comms, navigation and situational awareness while at sea.

For example, our Tactical Networks and Communications system is a consolidated and modernized shipboard, submarine and shore-based C4I network capability that allows integrated systems to control and manage every aspect of shipboard communications—afloat or ashore.

And our SPQ-9B or Spook Nine X-band pulse-doppler radar provides fleets with advanced anti-ship missile defense, horizon search, periscope detection, discrimination sensors and below-deck equipment to protect surface ships from threats like cruise missiles, low- and slow-flying aircraft, UAVs and helicopters.

Leonardo DRS has delivered more than ten thousand consoles and rack units over two decades—as well as above-water sensors and navigation equipment that help protect and guide naval ships. As a preferred partner, our complex electronics manufacturing and test capabilities help accelerate the advancement of our naval fleets to a more scalable, connected architecture—so they can own the edge.
