What is Uninterruptible Power?
Uninterruptible power supplies take dirty power from the ship’s generator and transforms it into clean, conditioned power for mission critical systems.
Clean, Reliable, and Uninterruptible Power During Naval Operations
The new 6kVA AC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) builds upon a proven legacy of reliable Pivotal Power Solutions for maritime operations.
For over 40 years, our line of Pivotal Power Solutions have provided both AC and DC power units with a proven record of reliable service. We have fielded thousands of units including installations on hundreds of ship platforms worldwide.
Leonardo DRS is proud to introduce the next generation UPS in our line of Pivotal Power Solutions. The 6kVA AC UPS provides conditioned backup power to command, control, and communication equipment where a clean, reliable power supply is essential.
The new 6kVA is smaller and lighter than the existing UPS units while providing significant improvements in power. It is fully MIL-spec and stand-alone qualified to the Navy’s gold standard for UPS equipment (MIL-DTL-24765B), which includes shock, electro-magnetic interference, and Vibration meaning it can be mounted directly to the ship.
The new 6kVA UPS also provides improvements in battery health monitoring and supports flexible battery configurations using both lead acid and lithium chemistries.
It is fully back-fit and forward fit compatible, giving the Navy flexibility to introduce alternate battery chemistries for reduced weight and extended backup time.
The Leonardo DRS 6kVA AC UPS is a trusted and reliable MIL-spec power supply providing clean, uninterruptible power when you need it most. For the Navy, All Power is Pivotal.
6kVA UPS Features
- Mean time between failures (MTBF) – 30,000 hours
- OLED unit status display
- Built-in-test (BIT) capability
- On-line maintenance of batteries and battery charger
- Various backup time durations available
Leonardo DRS’ 6kVA AC UPS provides conditioned backup power to command, control, and communication equipment where a clean, reliable power supply is essential. The input to the UPS is supplied from the ship’s 440V, 60Hz, 3-phase AC service power conforming to MIL-STD-1399, section 300. The UPS system provides 115 VAC, 60 Hz, 1-phase high quality output power.
If input power is lost, or if the power quality is outside acceptable limits, the double conversion online UPS system continues to provide the output power for the specified duration using rechargeable storage batteries and upon restoration automatically reverts to mains input power.
Each UPS system is made up of a power unit, which houses the power electronics, plus control and communication circuits and a battery unit, which houses the storage batteries. The UPS system utilizes MIL-SPEC circular connectors for input, output and the battery unit connection.
