The DFIRS 2100 is a combined flight data recorder (FDR), cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and emergency locator transmitter (ELT) designed to provide instantaneous alert and accurate location of a downed aircraft, assist in the speedy rescue of survivors, aid in the recovery of the aircraft and assure timely recovery of vital accident investigation data.

The Rapid Target Acquisition (RTA) capability enables rapid offensive targeting during Close Quarters Battle (CQB), in all battlefield conditions, by reducing target acquisition and engagement timelines, without the use of active lasers.

The FOCA products integrate mid-infrared fiber-optic cables with environmentally ruggedized packaging and connectors to enable their integration into military platforms. The FOCA can transmit high power optical energy throughout the mid-infrared with low loss, enabling optical distribution over long distances.  Varying segment lengths and connector types provides system designers with a great degree of flexibility when locating electro-optical components within a military platform.

The Fiber Optic Cable Assembly (FOCA) Test Set is designed to verify optical continuity during laboratory, field installation and maintenance. Systems that employ FOCA components, such as the AN/AAQ-45 Distributed Aperture Infrared Countermeasures (DAIRCM), require such testing to be performed during flight-line installation and troubleshooting. The FOCA Test Set includes a series of FOCA adapters that integrate with a standard laser source (580 XL) and fiber-optic power meter (560 XL) from Greenlee.

With a 2,500-gallon tank, the FRC can fuel and defuel one aircraft or two ground vehicles simultaneously in less than 10 minutes. The FRC is ISO-mounted on a flatrack base, so Warfighters can rapidly place, operate, maintain and recover it without any construction or material handling equipment. At any location.

The FCMS provides a single interface that enables operators to control sensors, communications equipment, mission applications, navigational devices and platform vetronics from existing platform displays and computers, or from a suite of available Leonardo DRS products, such as the Joint Platform Tablet (JPT) computer. All of the voice, video and data from these platform devices can be connected across the network with adjacent platforms, remote command posts, higher headquarters and, when desired, with partners.

The Modular Fuel System (MFS) provides the ability to rapidly establish a fuel distribution and storage capability without a bag farm or engineer support. The system can be used at any location without the availability of construction and material handling equipment. Consisting of fourteen 9,464 liter / 2,500 gallon tank racks and two pump filtration modules, the MFS increases mobility, capacity and speed in fuel distribution, while decreasing deployment and recovery time. The MFS is mobile, whether it is full, partially full or empty. It is compatible with the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck, Load Handling System (LHS), the Palletized Load System (PLS) truck and trailer, and the United States Marine Corps Logistics Vehicle System Replacement. The MFS tank racks can also be used for line-haul of bulk petroleum throughout the theater. By using two tank racks — one on the truck and one on the trailer — the PLS and LHS can transport up to 18,927 liters / 5,000 gallons of bulk petroleum per trip. The MFS is a logistics support system for Modular Brigades and provides liquid logistics support for the Army’s Future Combat Systems.

Leonardo DRS permanent magnet (PM) machines are optimized for their application, whether it is electrical power generation or vehicle propulsion. From the beginning, we have designed and built a wide variety of machines for vehicle propulsion and power. From tracked vehicles to wheel station motors, direct drive to speed increased generators, Leonardo DRS has designed, built and tested them all. We do not focus on one architecture; rather, we build axial gap (pancake) machines and radial (barrel) machines, conventional inside rotors and external or cup rotor machines. Slow speed and high speed, with and without bearings and seals, take advantage of the PM machines’ naturally larger magnetic gap to integrate the machine with the driven equipment.

Based on the very latest Intel Core™ i7 CPU technology, the Leonardo DRS RW Range of high resolution, modular multi-function tactical Smart Displays provide leading edge computing and display capability for the most demanding ground vehicle environments. 

The RW range shares a common CPU/Input-Output processor module which is integrated with either a 10.4’’, 12.1’’ or 17.3 HD” display. This allows systems integrators the flexibility to mix and match the smart displays while maintaining a common processing architecture. Due to modular nature of the design and the internal mini PCIe slots these displays are easily customised to meet specific customer requirements.

As naval electrical power needs rapidly expand, and fleets increasingly seek to become more efficient as the technology becomes more capable, the next logical step is for ships and submarines to become more electrified---reducing maintenance, increasing availability, while remaining environmentally conscious and sustainable. All of it enables today’s Navy to operate more quietly to give Sailors and Marines the edge.

The SI-8728A high-performance tuner subsystem features eight independent HF tuner modules. Each tuner module accepts an RF input in the range of 100 kHz to 30 MHz and provides tuning resolution to 1 Hz. The tuner subsystem allows for independent or phase-coherent tuner operation supporting a variety of system applications. IF outputs of all tuner modules are digitized by 24-bit A/D converters with high dynamic range, then processed digitally and made available as baseband in phase and quadrature-phase (I/Q) data via a single Ethernet interface.

The processed data outputs are packaged according to the packet structure of VITA 49.0 (VITA Radio Transport Standard) for output via the Ethernet interface. It is through this same interface that the HF tuner subsystem is configured and controlled. A real-time clock, which may be synchronized to a 1 PPS reference input, is maintained for time-stamping the processed data.

The subsystem is packaged in a 1U rack-mount chassis and designed to allow stacking of units for very high density systems. The rear panel includes SMA connectors for the RF inputs and for the 1PPS and 10 MHz REF inputs. A duplex SC socket serves as the 1000BASE-SX Ethernet physical interface. For applications requiring fewer than eight tuner modules, the SI-8728A may be optionally populated with any number of tuner modules to a maximum of eight.

The SI-9332 is a non-blocking 32 x 32 HF switch matrix that allows up to 32 HF inputs in the 0.5 to 30 MHz range to be connected to 32 outputs. It has many applications including the connection of antenna inputs to receivers. The SI-9332 design represents a step forward in design for size, weight and power (SWaP) for an HF switch matrix. It is housed in a 1U rack-mountable chassis that weighs 18 pounds (8.2 kG). The unit provides near unity (0 dB) gain so that it is virtually transparent in system operations.

All switching is fully electronic. By eliminating the use of mechanical relays, the SI-9332 design greatly increases system reliability and provides resistance to vibration. The SI-9332 provides compensatory signal amplification, sensing of signal path continuity and gain levels, and setting of status registers to indicate error conditions. If a failure occurs, diagnostics can be initiated to quickly localize the fault.

The Leonardo DRS Vehicle Intercom System (VIS) is an off the shelf product that offers a flexible, future-proof solution to platform based audio. Designed for Military, Emergency Services vehicles and command posts or any other situation where high quality intra-crew and intrafleet voice communications is required. The Leonardo DRS VIS is fully interoperable with most existing tactical and emergency services radio and radio networks.

The Ethernet-based capability of the Leonardo DRS VIS network enables system integrators to construct audio networks using modular building blocks, which can then be deployed from mobile vehicles to Command and Control locations. All LRUs utilize a standard solution set.

Vesper is a significant advancement in high-performance RF technology and dense channel packaging. With a modular and open architecture design, Vesper can be easily configured to support specific requirements. The VRAMS combines “four boxes in one” to provide digital map set (DMS), digital video recorder (DVR) and data transfer module (DTM) functionality, plus avionics status panel (ASP) monitoring and reporting. The VRAMS comprises four LRUs: digital map generation and processing, as well as DVR functionality (video, audio, 1553 and avionics discrete acquisition and playback), occur within the VP.
